Reading Options
I can already tell that the comic books will be a huge pull for me. In fact, most of my browsing consisted of refreshing the "random comic" page and searching for ones that struck me. I'm interested in lots of adventure and mystery, maybe a little romance. Here are three stories I found that may fulfill these desires:
Prabhavati: The Asura Princess
This is a comic I'm very excited for! It's about a family who works together to defeat an asura, a word I happen to be somewhat familiar with! I've seen portrayals of asuras (pronounced "ashura" in Japanese) in some anime. It's a low demon or deity depending on the iteration. I love adventure and being able to make connections to familiar media, so this is one I'll be revisiting.
Jayadratha: Retold from the Mahabharata
This is another comic I found that struck me because I know we'll be reading from the Mahabharata and I think it would be interesting to read a retelling of a story. From the sounds of it, it's an intense story about betrayal and death and revenge, which is always a good way to go when telling a story. Plus, it involves the ~supernatural!~
Saraswati: Stories of the Goddess of Wisdom
Finally, this one seemed interesting to me because I love a strong female protagonist, and who better to fill this role than a Goddess of wisdom??? It's a collection of short stories detailing some of Saraswati's adventures, and according to the summary, includes beautiful artwork as a bonus!
I realize all of the featured items ended up being comic books, but I was most intrigued by those initially. I'm excited to delve into all of these stories and more!
