Reading Notes: Narayan's Ramayana, Section D
Narayan's Ramayana
-Hanuman can change his size; he does so to reach Sita across the ocean
-Hanuman is also a monkey
-Could change Hanuman's animal transformation
-Side story on Hanuman's journey to find her? Sea monsters
-Ravana has a bunch of women
-Spinoff about the women and what they go through with Ravana the Jerk
-Hanuman almost mistakes Ravana's wife for Sita; gets upset
-Mandodari: coarse, but beautiful. Not ladylike. Perhaps tell about her luxury at the palace of Ravana.
-Sita has been kept with tormentors. Story of Sita's bravery and resilience against these ladies with weapons?
-Sita is approached by Ravana again and then tormented for rejecting him. She's going to hang herself, but Hanuman stops her and explains himself. Could switch up the story so that she is not so hopeless and helpless in this moment; tell about her brave escape.
-Ravana destroys the garden, and then allowed himself to be captures. He is saved from death by Ravana's bro, but his tail is set on fire. He destroys buildings by burning them. Perhaps he is about to be beheaded with a sword, but instead takes the sword and destroys the palace that way. (Over the top, but fun.)
-Ravana's "friends" are angry that he acted so hastily and now their home is destroyed; Story about how Ravana's council just totally demolishes him because he's a meanie
-Could basically create a whole "Gaston" scene where Ravana's court is trying to build him up again
-Three different possible outcomes says Ravana's bro and sons; needs to make decision on what he should do with his army. Give Ravana the power to make his own decision and create his own plan.
-Vishibana tried to reason with Ravana, but Ravana wouldn't have it. Could make Vishibana join Rama's side and fight alongside him since he's been fair and just this entire time.
