Reading: The Mahabharata, Section A
The Mahabharata
-Vyasa declared that no one on earth was worthy of scribing the Mahabharata, so he had a god scribe it. What if he let a mortal scribe it but the mortal found the task to be boring and strange and had to follow him around and "listen to him blather"?
-Vyasa tells the story to his disciple, who tells it to Janamejaya. What if the story got all mixed up between the middlemen and so the tale is a hilarious adventure?
-Chedi was given a crystal car to bribe him.
-His semen fell into the river and a fish swallowed it. Pretty sure that's bestiality. Could change this to something less weird.
-The fish put forth human twins. I could make one an evil twin!
-Satyavati is the fish-smelling mother of Vyasa, who was given the chance to smell like perfume. What would have happened had she stayed fishy smelling forever? Or perhaps passed on the smell to Vyasa so no one wanted to be around him?
-Shantanu refused to let Satyavati have a child who would inherit the throne instead of his son. What if there was a great battle between the two to decide who could have the throne?
-Bhishma steals away three young maidens for his brother to marry, but one was already in love. Have him come to try and rescue his love and fight the powerful Bhishma for her hand and create an epic battle!
-Better yet, have Amba fight Bhishma herself.
-Instead of having Amba reborn as a boy to fight Bhishma, keep her a girl! It would be far more humiliating for Bhishma.
-What if all three of the sons with "defects" took the throne together? Or just one son was born who was pale, blind, and humble.
-Karna is the son of Kunti. Will he grow up to confront or challenge Bhishma? Or will he fight Amba alongside him?
