Reading Notes: Mahabharata, Section D

The Mahabharata

-Bhishma cannot slay someone who was born a woman. Could play around with this and have a woman fight him since he can't defeat her, or bring in a trans woman.
-The whole section about Drona is written in poem form! Could rewrite the poem the way I want or rewrite other sections into poems.
-Arjuna's son, Abhimanyu is slain in a terrible way. Perhaps I could rewrite to where he doesn't die horrifically, or where his killer is plagued by guilt and the image of the young dead boy.
-The giant battle was unnecessary. Delete.
- Could go into great detail about the illusions Karna faced during his fight. Could make them scary or sad and very personal.
-Could make a side story about Yudhishthira and his inability to tell lies. Kind of like Ella Enchanted, but a lot scarier. Or I could retell the story of him killing the elephant to be a different animal.
-Arjuna and Karna fight, just like EVERYONE ELSE. Could choose this fight specifically to retell, as it is an interesting one with rules. Could write is as a poem.
-Another poem! Could rewrite this one, as it is another epic battle involving Drona's son.
-Rewrite parts of the story with Ashwatthaman as an actual elephant.
-Tell a sad tale of the men wandering among the bodies of the dead in sorrow? Could be a serious story when I usually tell humorous ones.
-Could retell the story Bhishma told, or make some up that he would tel (like the Ramayana).
-Perhaps give some insight into Uttara? She is old and widened and has had a lot of grief.
-I wanted to see a battle between the women warriors and Arjuna!! I could write it in!
-Could write what would happen if the horse sacrifice hadn't been pure!
